Proposal:
For my project I am going to research into different fashion and portrait photographers like Rankin and Daniel Kennedy for inspiration and ideas, because their photos look quite interesting and fun which is what I want mine to be like.
I am then going to use the studio and the studio lights with the light boxes, and test different lighting and different back drops to see which works best for what I want to do and when i've done this i'll take the parts that look best to shoot my final photos.

Then for my second technique I an going to look at slow shutter speed photography and research into the photographer Michael Bosanko because he has some amazing drawing with light photos that have been done using a slow shutter speed.
Then after this I am going to experiment with different shutter speeds on the camera and different things I can do with the shutter speeds e.g drawing with light, moving objects e.t.c.
Research:
Below are some of Rankins photos that I liked when I researched him. Rankin is a fashion / portrait photographer who uses different lighting and styles to make the photos look the best he can.
I got these photos because I thought they were quite fun and different and that's what I want mine to be like:
And then below are some photos taken by Daniel Kennedy who is also a portrait / fashion photographer, but he mainly photographs celebrities.
I chose these photos because I liked the lighting on them and the different poses and backgrounds used. I think they are very interesting and different because they're not just simple portrait shots :
Another photographer I researched was Michael Bosanko and below is some of the photos I looked at for my research. I chose these because they are so interesting and I love how he made such amazing pictures with just lights.
I am going to do similar things to this for the second technique in my project, but I will be starting with much more simple things than this.
Mood Board:
Below is a mood board of different photographers work. It is a mix of Rakin, Michael Bosanko and Daniel Kennedy photography. I have created this to help give me a bit more inspiration for my project.
Ideas / Sketches:
Below is a sketch of the set up of the lights and everything that I am going to use in the studio. It shows where I will put the lights, where I will put the model and where I will stand to take the photos.
Photo's - Test Shots:
When I went to the studio to start taking photos, i used really simple lighting. I put one light with a light box on facing towards the models, then another light at the back to the left of the models without a light box on and below are my results from this:
Photos- Final Shots
Below are the second lot of shots I did after doing my test shots. Some of these turned out better than the test shots, but I think some of the test shots were as good as these ones too so i ay use so of them in my final piece.
Below is some photos of when I went out and tested what it would look like to get a model to throw leaves in the air and then take a photo.I edited it on photoshop to make the main focus stand out more than the background and this is what I got:
More Ideas / Sketches:
Below is a sketch of another technique I am going to try. This technique is for my slow shutter speed photography. The sketch shows that I am going to get my model to run somewhere and get about 3 different shots while they're running.
After taking the shots I am then going to join them together to make it look like they're all on the same piece, so it looks like the model is actually moving. The sketch below shows this.
Photo's
As part of the "Slow Shutter Speed" part of my project, I decided to mix the slow shutter speed with the technique joining as an experiment after my sketching to see if it would work.
I got my model to run and I took shots every few steps she ran
then with photoshop I joined them together.
This is what I got:
Sketch / Idea
The next thing I am going to do for the slow shutter speed is the drawing with light technique and below is a diagram showing this. I will make the model stand in a dark room with a torch and draw different shapes or images with a bright light or a torch.
Below I have put some of the photos that I took from using the drawing with light technique. I have done very simple shapes / images because it was kind of like a test.
Below are two of the Final shots I got from the slow shutter speed part of my project. With these ones I tried to make my model create more complicated shapes with the lights instead of just doing scribbles.
Photos- Final shot
After the first visit to the studio for my project, I decide to go in again and try different things with my models. I used some balloons to help make the photos more colourful and fun this time, I also used a different lighting set up as I had two lights with light boxes on the one without a light box.
Below I have put the best shot that I got from doing this.
For the first technique in my project I used studio lighting to create fashion / portrait shots. Then for the second technique I chose to do slow shutter speed photography.
After doing this project the part that I most enjoyed was doing all the studio work that I did. This is because I like being able to choose different lighting and change it around and everything and I also think the best shots that I have done, came from the studio. I developed my study work by taking test shots to start off with then seeing what could be improved then trying it again.
However, I did enjoy doing the slow shutter speed shots too because I got some quite good results from that. Out of them shots I enjoyed getting my model to throw the leaves in the air and capture them falling because I think it created it really good effect. I tried to develop this effect by taking a few shots then looking through them to see what I didn't like then taking more shots in a different way and changing the things that I didn't like.
If I was to re-do this project I would spend more time in the studio and would try and experiment with a wider variety of things like different lighting angles and different coloured back drops. I would also try and make the shots I did with the leaves more fashion like, by making the model wear some really fashionable clothes and make them pose more in the photos.
So far on the course I have really enjoyed everything we have done. I've mainly liked learning about all the different styles of photography and different cameras e.g film, pinhole, digital e.t.c. I also really enjoyed learning how to process and develop film prints and learning how to use the dark room and all the equipment in there. Then with the SLR's I enjoyed learning all the different settings on them so i can take different styles of photographs. I have kept up to date on everything so far and I will try my best to keep doing this.

Final Pieces
My final piece will be several of the best photos I have taken during the project and they will be printed out and put onto some whit card so that I can cut a white boarder around them.
I will hand these in separately to the blog work with my assignment sheet.
Below is a photo of my final pieces all together. If I had mounted my work, this is the layout I would have used for it.
