Week 1: In the first few days after getting time-tables and everything else, we went first learnt about basic camera settings on the DSLR's and then learnt the basic settings on the film cameras and how to work them.
Then later on, we went out into the park by college and used Pentax film cameras with the settings we learnt about, to take some shots of different things e.g tree's, plants, leaves e.t.c.
After this we then learnt how to take the film out of the containers and put it onto a film reel so we could develop them. We did this using a black bag that was like a mini dark room so that we could protect the film and everything from getting ruined in the light, instead of going in the dark room. We then went into the developing room and got shown how to properly develop film with the developer and the fix.

Week 2: Started learning about all the settings on DSLR's and practised using different settings. We started by practising with different shutter speeds and different amounts of light. The first lot of photos we did was of someone spinning on a chair, taken several times with different shutter speeds, but I haven't got these photos as they were lost.
Then after this we went outside, around college and took photos of moving cars also and different shutter speeds. I've put some photos below as an example of what we did! :
We also did some more things in the darkroom as we learnt how to print out photos from the film that we used to take photos with on our first day. We used the dark room and the enlargers in there to do this and also used dark room photo paper to print it onto. First though, we did a test strip to see which setting / how long we needed to leave the light on the machine for the image to print well. (A photo of the tester is below, then under that is a photo of my proper and final print that I did)
Week 3: We went out around a bit of Leeds to take photos of buildings. We had to do this in the style of the photographer Alexander Rodchenko. His technique when taking photos of buildings is to try and use 'Leading Lines' which are lines that lead to other points in the photo, to either make you look at one certain point in a photo or to make you follow the line/lines so you look at anywhere the line / lines lead.
(I've put a few of the photos I did below)

Week 3: This week we have started to learn how to use lighting in different ways with the lights in the studio. We practiced using these lights by taking photos of each other and putting the lights in different positions or at different heights. We also used the light box on the lights to create different affects with the lights. We also had to use some equipment to measure how much light was hitting certain areas / measure the F number before we took the photos so we could set the camera to the same F number as the lighting.
Some of the photos I produced are below.
Also, for this week we were asked to bring in 3 photos from 3 different photographers and look at the comparission between these photographers / photos.
The three photos that I chose are below.
This photo was taken by David La'Chapelle, and I chose it because I liked all the bright colours in it and the unsusualness of the photo.
This photo was taken by Rankin. I liked this and chose this because It is very different and looks quite old fashioned and kind of creepy. It also looks like its been edited and I like the editing on it.
Finally, this last photo was taken by the photographer David Bailey. I chose this photo as one of my three because I like the way the photographer has tried to make the model look like the flamingo in the photo and I also like the lighting on it.
